This is not a Beat-tape this isn't a collection of unused hip hop beats i wasn't going to rap on. This is a story told through sound. When I was seventeen my brother and I had an apartment in the county of Kings. Since everyone else I knew lived at home my house quickly became the spot for all the coolin to occur. Now, in a way this was the real beginning to my journey into music. Before that point in my life music was a hobby, something fun i did. But the road quickly took a turn and sound became the only way i felt i could really connect with people. Long nights spent alone in the dark crafting, tweaking, obsessing. and now years later and my journey is beginning anew. i made this album as an homage to the long nights spent in that old apartment smoking weed and staring into the visualizer on my old computer. we would all get together fifteen people deep smashed into the bedroom in total silence losing ourselves in the music only to then trade stories of the adventures our mind took us on thanks to whatever songs we were listening to. it was never radio tracks or even music with words for the most part. its crazy to me that something can be so universal and speak to absolutely anyone on a completely different level yet hold a potentially entirely different meaning to the creator of the piece itself. thus is art, And in my mind no art can casually sweep you off your feet and out of or into whatever mood or mindset it so chooses than music. "The Journey" is not a reflection of someone who has reached the end, but one of excitement because i am constantly reminded to enjoy this time right here, right now without the worries of having to reflect back and wish for more when its too late. Sit back relax, smoke, meditate, go for a drive do whatever it takes for you but i encourage you to sit back and let "The journey" take you where it takes you.
